These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Self Labs' website design and development services. By engaging our services or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Self Labs services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access our services.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("Client," "you," or "your") and Self Labs ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). Your continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of these Terms.

2. Services

Self Labs provides website design, development, and maintenance services. We offer both one-time website builds ($300-$2,500+) and monthly maintenance retainer packages ($50-$200/month).

3. Payment Terms

Payment is required according to the terms specified in your project agreement. For one-time builds, a deposit may be required before work begins. Monthly retainer fees are billed at the beginning of each month. All payments are non-refundable once work has commenced.

4. Ownership & Code

Upon full payment for one-time website builds, you own the code and all deliverables. Self Labs retains the right to showcase the work in our portfolio unless otherwise agreed in writing.

5. Design Gallery Disclaimer

The design gallery displayed on our website is provided for inspiration purposes only. The images showcased are examples of various design styles and approaches, and do not necessarily represent work created by Self Labs. These designs are used solely to demonstrate different aesthetic possibilities and to inspire potential clients. Self Labs does not claim ownership or authorship of all designs displayed in the inspiration gallery.

6. Maintenance Services

Monthly maintenance services are provided on a subscription basis and can be cancelled with 30 days notice. Maintenance includes updates, backups, and minor content changes as specified in your plan.

7. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for providing necessary content, feedback, and approvals in a timely manner. Delays caused by client unavailability may result in extended project timelines.

8. Limitation of Liability

Self Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of our services. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific service.

At Self Labs, we're committed to your complete satisfaction. We stand behind the quality of our work and offer the following guarantee on all services:

Our Quality Promise

We believe in doing the job right. Every project includes multiple revision rounds and client approval at key milestones. We won't consider a project complete until you're happy with the result.

Refund Eligibility

Refunds are available under the following conditions:

  • Pre-Project Cancellation: 100% refund if you cancel before work begins (within 48 hours of payment)
  • Early-Stage Cancellation: 75% refund if you cancel within the first week and before initial design delivery
  • Mid-Project Cancellation: 50% refund if you cancel after initial design approval but before final delivery
  • Quality Issues: Full or partial refund if we fail to meet agreed-upon specifications after reasonable revision attempts
  • Monthly Services: Cancel anytime with 30-day notice; refund of unused portion on a pro-rata basis

Refunds Are NOT Available When:

  • Project is completed and approved by client according to agreed specifications
  • Client fails to respond to communications or provide required materials within 30 days
  • Changes in client preferences after approval of designs/deliverables
  • Third-party costs have been incurred (domain registration, hosting, plugins, etc.)
  • Client violates terms of service or engages in abusive behavior
  • Refund request is made more than 14 days after final project delivery

Our Revision Process

Before requesting a refund, we encourage you to work with us through our revision process:

  • All packages include multiple revision rounds at no extra cost
  • Clear communication of concerns and desired changes
  • Opportunity to address issues before project completion
  • Good-faith collaboration to achieve your vision

Alternative Resolution

In cases where a full refund may not be applicable, we may offer:

  • Store credit toward future services (125% of refund amount)
  • Additional revision rounds to address concerns
  • Partial refund based on work completed
  • Service package upgrade or modification

How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please email support@self-labs.io with your order number and detailed explanation. We'll review your request within 2 business days and work with you to find a fair resolution. Approved refunds are processed within 5-10 business days.

Money-Back Guarantee

First-Time Clients: If you're working with us for the first time and aren't satisfied with our work after the first design milestone, we'll either revise until you're happy or provide a full refund—no questions asked. Your satisfaction is our priority.

This refund policy applies to services purchased directly from Self Labs. For purchases made through third-party platforms (including ChatGPT Instant Checkout), the platform's refund policies may also apply.

10. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. Your continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any changes.

11. Intellectual Property Rights

11.1 Client Content

You retain all rights to content, materials, and intellectual property you provide to us ("Client Content"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to use Client Content solely for the purpose of providing our services.

11.2 Our Work Product

Upon full payment, you own the final deliverables including custom code, designs, and content created specifically for your project. We retain rights to our proprietary tools, methodologies, and pre-existing intellectual property.

11.3 Portfolio Rights

We retain the right to showcase completed work in our portfolio, case studies, and marketing materials unless otherwise agreed in writing. We will not use confidential or proprietary client information in our marketing.

12. Project Management & Communication

12.1 Project Scope

Project scope is defined in written proposals or agreements. Changes to scope may result in additional charges and timeline adjustments. All scope changes must be approved in writing by both parties.

12.2 Client Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and complete information about your business and requirements
  • Respond to requests for feedback and approvals within 5 business days
  • Provide necessary content, images, and materials in agreed formats
  • Ensure you have rights to all content and materials you provide
  • Designate a single point of contact for project communication

12.3 Timeline Expectations

Project timelines are estimates based on client responsiveness and scope. Delays caused by client unavailability or late feedback may extend project completion dates. We will communicate any timeline changes promptly.

13. Payment Terms & Billing

13.1 Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We accept major credit cards and digital payment methods. Payment information is encrypted and processed according to PCI DSS standards.

13.2 Payment Schedule

  • One-Time Projects: 50% deposit required to begin work, balance due upon completion
  • Monthly Retainers: Billed in advance on the 1st of each month
  • Additional Work: Billed upon completion or as agreed in writing

13.3 Late Payments

Payments are due within 15 days of invoice date. Late payments may incur a 1.5% monthly service charge. We reserve the right to suspend services for accounts with payments overdue by 30 days or more.

14. Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure

We understand that your business information is confidential. We agree to:

  • Keep all client information confidential and secure
  • Not disclose client information to third parties without written consent
  • Use client information only for the purpose of providing our services
  • Return or destroy confidential information upon project completion

This confidentiality obligation survives termination of our services and continues indefinitely.

15. Warranties & Disclaimers

15.1 Service Warranties

We warrant that our services will be performed in a professional manner consistent with industry standards. We do not guarantee specific results or outcomes beyond our control.

15.2 Third-Party Services

We are not responsible for the performance, availability, or security of third-party services including hosting providers, payment processors, or external APIs. We will assist with issues but cannot guarantee third-party service uptime or functionality.

15.3 Technology Changes

Web technologies evolve rapidly. We cannot guarantee that websites will remain compatible with future browser versions or technology changes. Ongoing maintenance may be required to maintain compatibility.

16. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SELF LABS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
  • Damages resulting from third-party actions or service failures
  • Damages exceeding the total amount paid for the specific service

Our total liability for any claim arising from our services shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

17. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Self Labs from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of our services in violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Content or materials you provide to us
  • Your failure to comply with applicable laws or regulations

18. Termination

18.1 Termination by Client

You may terminate services with 30 days written notice. For one-time projects, termination may result in charges for work completed to date. Monthly services may be cancelled with 30 days notice.

18.2 Termination by Self Labs

We may terminate services immediately if you breach these Terms, fail to pay fees, or engage in abusive or inappropriate behavior. We will provide reasonable notice when possible.

18.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, you retain rights to completed work for which payment has been made. We will provide project files and documentation as agreed. Confidentiality obligations continue after termination.

19. Dispute Resolution

19.1 Good Faith Resolution

We encourage resolving disputes through good faith communication. Contact us at support@self-labs.io to discuss any concerns before pursuing formal resolution.

19.2 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [Your State], without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of [Your County], [Your State].

19.3 Arbitration

For disputes exceeding $10,000, either party may request binding arbitration. Arbitration will be conducted by a mutually agreed arbitrator or through the American Arbitration Association.

20. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, government actions, internet outages, or other force majeure events.

21. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. We will replace invalid provisions with valid ones that achieve the same purpose.

22. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with any written project agreements or proposals, constitute the entire agreement between you and Self Labs. These Terms supersede all prior agreements, representations, or understandings.
